Manzanita y Su Conjunto
Manzanita is widely acknowledged as Peru?s master of the electric guitar.
His musical group, Manzanita y Su Conjunto, gained popularity in the 1970s and 1980s for their truly electrifying sounds of cumbia and guaracha music.
His band flourished, and the era saw the birth of a newly created genre of music, Peruvian cumbia.
Whilst the infectious rhythms are heavily inspired by Cuban guaracha with lively melodies and energetic dance moves, his electric guitar defines it as a uniquely Peruvian style. It did not take long for Manzanita to become one of its leading exponents.
No one is better placed to pay homage to Manzanita than his own son, Manzanita Jr, recreating his guitar magic with a full live band.
