Brixton Calling
In 1983, Simon Parkes bought a derelict Brixton cinema for ?1. He called it The Academy. Ten years later, he had transformed it into one of the world?s most iconic music venues ? and changed British music forever. Inspired by Parkes? anarchic memoir ?Live at the Brixton Academy?, multi-award winning Brixton Calling returns after a sell-out hit run at Southwark Playhouse Borough. Bigger, bolder and more electric than ever. Directed by Bronagh Lagan (Olivier Award nominated ?Cruise?), Brixton Calling tells the extraordinary story of the venue?s rise through the eyes of the people who were there.
