Gideon Rachman - War is Interested in You
Gideon Rachman, the Financial Times' chief foreign affairs commentator, and one of the most authoritative voices in global affairs, has spent decades speaking with the leaders in political and intelligence spheres to understand the world we live in.
A long period of peace between the world's most powerful nations appears to be coming to an end.
Wars have broken out in Europe and the Middle East, tensions are rising in East Asia, and world leaders are speaking openly about the possibility of a third world war. Intelligence agencies have not seen the global situation this dangerous in living memory.
Yet for most people, the forces driving us towards this precipice remain opaque, distant, and bewildering.
Rachman will draw from the themes of his new book War Is Interested In You to set out how we arrived at this moment, why he believes what happens in Taiwan will determine the future of geopolitics and what else may be coming next.
Join Gideon live, near the arguments and ask your questions in the Q&A where you can put questions directly to him.
Whether you follow global affairs closely or simply feel, as many do, that the world has become harder to read and more unsettling to live in, this is an evening that will leave you better informed about the forces that, as Trotsky once warned, are interested in you whether you are interested in them or not.
