Bestmate ? excellent entertainment that somehow manages to combine Nirvana, The Cure and Dr Feelgood and still sound utterly original. The (seemingly) seven foot tall is quite a presence, and does some wonderful Wilko Johnson duck walking as he off loads his ace Anglo Saxon indie angst. Frankestra? Hooky alt rock with a nod to Wunderhorse in places but also recalls cult indie band Hope Of The States and shades of The Clash and even The Levellers. Televised Mind ? purveyors of pummelling punky indie with some low slung rocknroll of a Stooges bent and plenty of swagger. Hailing from the heart of the London scene, Astrocats are an alternative rock outfit defined by raw energy and uncompromising emotional grit. Their debut album, MDMA, serves as a sonic manifesto?a journey through the highs and lows of identity and human vulnerability. Blending introspective songwriting with explosive, high-octane dynamics, the band bypasses the trends to deliver a sound that is as honest as it is electric.
