Heirs to the psychedelic cumbia of Los Mirlos and Los Destellos, headliners Hit La Rosa embody the transgressive and mystical spirit of Peruvian cumbia today. Their sound, layered with other Latin genres and wrapped in dark psychedelia, has positioned them as one of the burgeoning international Peruvian groups, and they are one of the few to have participated in the NPR Tiny Desk concert series. They call this rhythm Rebel Chicha, a Latin American psychedelic ritual, resonating with fans of Bomba Est?reo, Los Mirlos, and mainstream artists who reclaim and perform a shared Latinx culture on a global stage. Now expanded into a six-piece band, all first-generation migrant musicians from South America, their storytelling and Spanglish delivery treat language as a rhythmic force, creating connections across cultures.
