James Taylor
James Taylor, one of the greatest songwriters and performers of all time and known for timeless classics such as Fire and Rain, You’ve Got a Friend, and more, emerged in 1968 as the first non-British artist on Apple Records - with Paul McCartney on bass and George Harrison singing backing vocals on Carolina In My Mind.
The North Carolina folk rock singer-songwriter has enjoyed an unparalleled career that includes over 100 million records sold worldwide, five Grammy Awards, induction into the Songwriters and Rock and Roll Halls of Fame, and awarded the National Medal of the Arts by President Barack Obama.
In the 1970s, Taylor’s music career skyrocketed and he topped the charts worldwide with singles like "You've Got a Friend" (written by and originally recorded by his then backing pianist, Carole King), "Shower the People", and covers of Marvin Gaye's "How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved by You)", Buddy Holly's "Everyday", and Jimmy Jones's "Handy Man". He has enjoyed Platinum-selling albums in the 1970s, 80s, 90s, 2000's and topped the US album charts in 2010, with his twentieth studio album, "American Standard", consisting his interpretations of standard songs from the American canon.
