Jim Bob (Carter The Unstoppable Sex Machine)
More topical than an episode of Newsnight, with songs about Putin, the Taliban and whoever "Billionaire in Space" is about, the album-chart smashing Carter The Unstoppable Sex Machine’s fiery frontman returns.
It’s not all doom and gloom though (it’s mostly doom and gloom) as he also delivers hilarious psychobilly romps and songs for pub lock-ins described as Bowie's "Kooks" for older people.
His acoustic punk, often with trumpet, saxophone and violin, Jim Bob describes his sound as "a poncy wine tasting with flavours of Buzzcocks and Dexys, with notes of Teardrop Explodes and Slade. Big and bold, bright and crispy, earthy and buttery, with a bouquet of barbed wire and an aftertaste of your life somehow never ever quite being the same again."
