Kristin Hersh (Throwing Muses)
Kristin Hersh found fame with the rock band Throwing Muses, which she founded at the tender age of fourteen in Rhode Island, going on to score great worldwide commercial success in the 1990s.
With twelve solo albums to her name - including 1994's UK no.7 "Hips and Makers" - The Washington Post have described her resplendent, melancholic experimental folk as "poetic, provocative and puzzling songcraft."
The songs lead the way, with her beguiling raspy vocals paired with guitar, and any other instrument that she chooses to play creating a beautiful intensity that's jarring, unpredictable and inherent in her music.
