Kwitee: NIGHT AND DAY The Louis Armstrong Experience

Kwitee: NIGHT AND DAY The Louis Armstrong Experience
Doors 7.00pm | Performance 8pm | Event Calendar CLICK HERE NIGHT AND DAY is a deeply expressive jazz album that captures the full emotional spectrum of the man behind the music 'KWITEE'. This album release show is more than a performance, it is a journey through light, shadow, joy, struggle, hope and reflection. Through rich harmonies, soulful improvisation and intimate melodies, Kwitee tells his story with honesty and vulnerability. The ?Night? represents moments of doubt, loss and inner conflict. The quiet hours where emotions run deep and unanswered questions linger. In contrast, the ?Day? shines with warmth, resilience, love and celebration. A reminder that even after the darkest nights, clarity and joy can return. Each composition unfolds like a chapter, blending classic jazz influenced with modern expression. The music moves freely between uplifting grooves and introspective ballads, allowing listeners to feel both the highs and lows that have shaped Kwitee?s life and artistry. The NIGHT AND DAY album release show invites the audience into Kwitee?s world to listen, to feel and to connect. It is a testament to the beauty of contrast, the power of storytelling through sound and the enduring spirit of jazz as a mirror of the human experience.? Kwitee (born Okwi Godwin Iguwe) is a Nigerian trumpet player, bandleader, and songwriter whose work moves fluidly across genres and generations. Known for a sound that is both rooted in African musical traditions and open to global influence, he has established himself as a distinctive voice in contemporary African music. Born in Warri, Delta State, and originally from Abia State, Kwitee is the first child of an Ijaw mother from Bayelsa State. His early life was shaped by culture, faith, and community, spending much of his childhood under the care of his late maternal grandmother. A devoted churchgoer, she introduced him to an environment where music, spirituality, and discipline coexisted?an influence that would prove foundational to his artistic development. Kwitee?s musical journey began at the age of nine as a percussionist in church. By eleven, he had grown into a frontline drummer, developing a strong command of rhythm, timing, and musical structure. His participation in the Nigerian Football Supporters Club (Delta State Chapter) further expanded his performance experience, exposing him to large audiences and high-energy musical settings. With a solid rhythmic grounding and an increasing interest in melody and expression, Kwitee eventually chose the trumpet as his primary instrument. This decision marked a turning point in his career. Through years of focused practice and exploration, he has become one of Africa?s most respected trumpet players, recognised for his expressive tone, musical sensitivity, and stylistic depth. He is the founder and bandleader of Kwitee and the Cosmos, a live music ensemble known for its dynamic performances and genre-blending compositions. The group draws from Afro-jazz, alternative, folk, and world music, creating a sound that appeals across age groups while remaining firmly connected to African musical identity. Kwitee?s recorded work includes the EP Don?t Quit and the jazz album Shadows, an introspective project that reflects personal growth, resilience, and artistic evolution. His career also includes collaborations with a broad range of acclaimed local and international artists, underscoring both his versatility and his standing within the music community. In 2026, Kwitee takes a significant step in his international journey with a solo headline concert at Soul Mama, London, on May 10, 2026?a moment that highlights his growth as an independent artist and bandleader on the global stage. A prolific songwriter and performer, Kwitee continues to explore music as a medium for storytelling, cultural expression, and innovation. Through the trumpet, he articulates a sound that honours tradition while remaining open, contemporary, and forward-looking. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Soul Mama Menu offers a delightful blend of African, Caribbean, and South American cuisine.
