With electronic drum pads pulsating underneath fervent guitar lines, critically beloved Japanese-American indie folk singer-songwriter Mitski has cemented her reputation as an artist capable of using her talent to perform the alchemy that turns our most savage and alienated experiences into the very elixir that cures them, growing from her cult favourite status to scoring two UK Top 10 hit albums.

Born in Japan, Mitski grew up surrounded by her father's Smithsonian folk recordings and mother's 1970s Japanese pop CDs in a family that moved frequently: she spent stints in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Malaysia, China and Turkey among other countries before ending up in New York to study composition at SUNY Purchase.
