RCMJD Jazz Ensemble
The Royal College of Music Junior Department Jazz Ensemble performs regularly at the RCM, together with annual gigs at the Royal Albert Hall and 606 Club.
Their lively, eclectic repertoire features music from the swing era of the 1930's right up to the present day, including works by Lionel Hampton, Miles Davis, Charlie Parker, Dave Brubeck, Dexter Gordon, Herbie Hancock, Weather Report, Hugh Masekela and the Dirty Dozen Brass Band.
The ensemble has performed a number of specially commissioned works, including a Shakespearean-themed jazz suite by Laurence Cottle, which they premiered at Ronnie Scott’s Club.
