About:
As they celebrate their 35-year anniversary, renowned jazz development organisation, Tomorrow?s Warriors, shines a spotlight on some of the finest young emerging jazz talent in London as two of their ensembles come to Vortex for this special double-header.
Tomorrow?s Warriors all-female development ensemble, Frontline, is rooted in the legendary Warriors tradition carrying the torch lit by those who came before them, stepping into the spotlight with a sound that is entirely their own. Under the mentorship and musical leadership of acclaimed drummer Romarna Campbell, the group weaves together their influences of jazz, latin and contemporary music, creating a fusion that feels both timeless and thrillingly alive.
Tomorrow?s Warriors Frontline don?t simply perform; they transform. With fresh arrangements, original works and an infectious ability for musical storytelling, very set is an experience not easily forgotten.
Tomorrow?s Warriors Youth Ensemble is a band punching well above their weight ? a unique sextet aged 15-19, the band boasts exceptional talent. They are one of Tomorrow?s Warriors flagship development groups, mentored by Denys Baptiste ? one of the most acclaimed British saxophonists of the 21st century ? as well as Binker Golding, Sultan Stevenson, and Gary Crosby OBE.
With influences ranging from bebop and hard bop to spiritual jazz and fusion, expect a varied, dynamic, and exciting set!
