Ending its limited run at the Bridge Theatre on 30th May 2026, Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s Tony Award-winning masterpiece Into The Woods takes audiences deep into a realm where fairy tales collide, wishes come true, and the consequences of desire unravel before your eyes.

In this thrilling musical reimagining, the Baker and his Wife embark on a desperate quest to break a wicked curse, encountering beloved characters like Cinderella, Jack, Little Red Riding Hood, and Rapunzel—each on their own journey to find happiness.

The reviews are in:

"A thrilling, mischievous delight, it’s hard to imagine a more exciting rendition of Stephen Sondheim’s musical than this." (The Observer).

"An immaculate cast carries the composer’s fiendish score with panache in this first London production for almost a decade." ★★★★★ (Financial Times).

"Director Jordan Fein’s take on the show’s twisted fairy tales is sharp, propulsive and often very funny. Sondheim at its best, a five-star triumph." ★★★★★ (The Times).

"Sondheim and James Lapine’s fairytale adventure follows its archetypal characters into real-world emotion, brilliantly drawn and sung." ★★★★ (The Guardian).

"A triumphant musical mash-up of fairytales, packed with terrific performances as classic fairytale characters lose their way in the darkness." ★★★★ (The Standard).

"A thing of lush and arresting beauty, the revival is a lavish production that plays to the musical’s strengths." ★★★★ (The Independent)

"Stylish and stuffed with talent, this musical has an unmistakably elegant froideur about it, making it easier to admire than love." ★★★★ (The i)

"Visually spellbinding." ★★★ (The Stage).

"A plot that could easily become convoluted is instead brisk and hypnotic, Sondheim’s jaunty music keeping step with lyrics that have their own springy levity." ★★★★ (The Telegraph)

"It’s just great, really, a sublime production of a sublime musical with a sublime cast. Fein doesn‘t try to reinvent the wheel, so much as he acknowledges the importance of the wheel’s function and then goes ahead and makes the best looking, best crafted wheel you’ve ever seen. Pure magic.." ★★★★★ (Time Out).

"Overall, this adaptation is a triumphant and an other-worldly return for the much-loved musical, one that truly honours the intentions of the original. It's fair to say that some people find Sondheim's style challenging, but it's far easier to see the genius of it when it's done to this exceptional level." ★★★★★ (Radio Times).

"If you haven’t seen it, if you go down to Into The Woods tonight, you’re sure of a big surprise. And, if not, there’s a Teddy Bear having a picnic elsewhere in London if marmalade sandwiches are more to your taste than Red Ridinghood’s bony grandma."  ★★★★ (The Arts Desk).

Overall: ★★★★✭
