Anika
Living between Berlin and Bristol whilst working as a political journalist and music promoter, Surrey born singer-songwriter Annika Henderson (aka Anika) met Portishead's Geoff Barrow through a mutual friend in 2010.
Immediately it was clear that they shared the same musical vision; a love of punk, dub and 60's girl groups and together they went into the studio to record her debut album, a collection of uneasy easy listening.
With her subsequent albums, she has continued to channel her frustration, anger, and confusion with the world with minimal overdubs, resulting in a visceral and urgent musical journey fueled by intense emotions.
She is also a DJ, political journalist, poet and founder of the band Exploded View, based in Mexico City, and collaborated with Tricky, Shackleton and Dave Clarke among others.
