From being a child actor in a 1998 episode of the Comic Strip Presents (her father is comedian Keith Allen) and A Lady in Waiting in the 1998 film Elizabeth, she went on to post her trademark DIY bedroom pop songs on MySpace to topping the charts with her debut single "Smile" in 2006.
With millions of sales, she has also had no.1 hits with "The Fear", and "Somewhere Only We Know", while "Not Fair", "LDN", "Fuck You" and "Roll the Dice" (with Shy FX) were all certified Platinum.
Focusing on a theatre stage career, she starred in 2:22 A Ghost Story, The Pillowman, and Hedda, she returned to music after seven years away in 2025 with the critically acclaimed autobiographical album West End Girl which she will play in specifically selected theatres, its entirety, in the order the songs appear on the record. Lily has chosen the theatre venues specially to showcase her new material.
