Robert Carsen’s ‘transformative’ (Financial Times) production situates Verdi’s large-scale political drama in a contemporary world, framing power struggles and toxic jealousies in a modern, totalitarian state. Daniel Oren conducts Verdi’s monumental score, with Anna Pirozzi as Aida, Riccardo Massi as Radames, Raehann Bryce-Davis as Amneris and Amartuvshin Enkhbat as Amonasro.

As Egypt prepares to launch an attack on Ethiopia, the ambitious soldier Radames readies to serve his country. But his secret love for Aida, an Ethiopian prisoner concealing her true identity, has grave consequences. As the conflict deepens, the lovers’ truths threaten to emerge, forcing a terrible choice between loyalty to home – and to each other.
