Saint Etienne
One of Britains's most enduring and endearing bands of recent times. Often described as a sixties-inspired 90s dance band, Saint Etienne encompass many influences and deliver sublime and soulful pop songs - from the anthemic UK Top 20 hits "He's On The Phone" and "You're In A Bad Way" to the timeless classics "Sylvie" and "Tell Me Why", or US Dance chart-toppers "Only Love Can Break Your Heart" and "Nothing Can Stop Us".
Underrated but critically acclaimed, the London trio formed at a time when acid house was booming and Brit-pop was just starting, Saint Etienne offered a sophisticated, lush, and tuneful alternative. They built songs around odd samples, balanced goofy dancefloor tracks with heartbreaking classical folk ballads with electronic instrumentation and orchestral arrangements.
