The Chemical Brothers
Superstar electronic DJ duo Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons met at Manchester University in 1989, living together at 237 Dickenson Road and immersing themselves in the music of The Haçienda and New Order, before starting their own instrumental hip hop, techno, and house club night in the city, as the Dust Brothers (named after the US production duo, famous for their work with the Beastie Boys), before quickly moving into remixes for the likes of 808 State, and eventually making their own productions.
Following a legal challenge from the original Dust Brothers, they changed their name to The Chemical Brothers in 1995 and have since gone on to top the UK charts eight times, including with the singles "Setting Sun" and "Block Rockin' Beats", and collaborating with the likes of Noel Gallagher, Tim Burgess, Richard Ashcroft, Bernard Sumner, Bobby Gillespie, Beth Orton, Q-Tip, The Flaming Lips, and Beck, among many others, while they have also achieved Platinum status with the single "Hey Boy Hey Girl" and scored Top 10 hits with "Galvanize", "Star Guitar", "It Began in Afrika", "Let Forever Be",
