Just like Shed Seven, The Wedding Present, and Level 42 before them, Yard Act are a Yorkshire-formed act fronted by a charasmatic Mancunian, witty lyricist James Smith.

Often compared to The Fall and Arctic Monkeys, the Leeds indie-rockers reached no.2 in the UK album charts with their 2022 debut, a collection of coruscating, hilariously dark humour and cynical storytelling bluntly aimed to confront post-Brexit Britain.
