What's On at the Harold Pinter Theatre, London

The Harold Pinter Theatre started life as The Royal Comedy Theatre, only changing to its current name in 2011. Opening in 1881, this three-tiered venue presents a vast array of world class shows, productions and events, from classical to classic plays, musical comedies and revivals, experimental theatre and dance.

In 1956, the theatre formed the New Watergate Club to bypass the enforced stage censorship of the time. This allowed plays to run under club conditions rather than theatrical ones. It brought the UK premieres of plays such as A View From The Bridge, Tea and Sympathy, and Cat On A Hot Tin Roof.

The Harold Pinter Theatre ha a seating capacity of 796. It homed the West End debut of ‘The Rocky Horror Show’ and boasts Olivier Award winning productions such as ‘Six Degrees of Separation’, the ‘Pinter At The Pinter’ season, Talking Heads, and more recently Macbeth starring David Tennant and Cush Jumbo.
