WHAT'S ON AT THE SHAFTESBURY THEATRE, LONDON
Shaftesbury Theatre originally opened in 1911 as the New Prince’s Theatre and is a Grade II listed building. Owned by The Theatre Of Comedy, it is presently home to Just For One Day – The Live Aid Musical, and its steel structure means that there are zero pillars, so each of the current 1015 seating capacity has an unobstructed view.
Shaftesbury Theatre has a rich history of productions including musicals, plays, farce, dance, Shakespeare, Opera, melodramas and of course, comedy. Notable performances have included Funny Face, Wonderful Town, Hair, and more recently Hairspray, Memphis, Motown, Mrs. Doubtfire, Be More Chill, & Juliet.
Shaftesbury Theatre is the largest independent theatre in the West End and has a reputation for hosting world or British premieres.
