Orlando Weeks (The Maccabees)
Orlando Weeks first came to prominence as frontman of The Maccabees. After debuting in 2005, the band became one of the most influential bands of recent years, winning Best British Band at the NME Awards as well as the prestigious Ivor Novello for Best Contemporary Song. The Maccabees split at the height of their powers, with their fourth album,'Marks To Prove It, going straight to No.1 before they departed with three sold-out nights at Alexandra Palace.
Orlando returns with his critically acclaimed solo work; deeply personal, lush and full of swelling, emotive and beautiful flourishes, joyous and life affirming statements exploring themes around Fatherhood, following the birth of his first son.
Orlando Thomas Penhale Weeks is an English singer/songwriter and formal frontman of now-disbanded indie-rock band The Maccabees.
Weeks studied illustration at Brighton University before spending a decade in The Maccabees. In 2016, when the group decided to disband he set about writing his first book The Gritterman, which was published on September 7th, 2017, accompanied by the soundtrack album The Gritterman.
His first tour saw Orlando Weeks, showcasing material from his debut solo album.
A Quickening draws inspiration from Week’s life-changing journey into first-time fatherhood: the result is gently soothing tracks awash with waves of uncertainty, care and anticipation. With feather-light vocals, swelling electronics and heart-beat like percussion, the result is softly hypnotic.
